Sylvia A. Cavazos
Sylvia is a very well-respected attorney in our legal community, amongst other lawyers and judges in San Antonio and surrounding cities.
Sylvia A. Cavazos obtained her law degree in May of 1997 from the private law school of Thomas M. Cooley in Lansing, Michigan. As a native Texan, Sylvia returned to San Antonio and began practicing as a Bexar County Assistant Criminal District Attorney. Sylvia has worked under two administrations while at the DA's office, beginning with District Attorney, Steven Hilbig, then with District Attorney, Susan Reed. Sylvia was able to work under the policies and procedures of two completely different District Attorneys while at the same time being promoted from Misdemeanor prosecutor to Felony prosecutor.
As an Assistant District Attorney for approximately 10 years, while assigned to the Trial Division, Sylvia has tried many, many cases to jury verdict in both, adult and juvenile divisions. Her diverse experience includes reviewing and evaluating cases while in the Drug intake and Property Crimes Divisions where she had a personal working relationship with Detectives of both San Antonio Police Departments and the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. She also prosecuted in various Justice of the Peace (JP) courts and supervised Misdemeanor Prosecutors.
Sylvia began her own practice as a Criminal Defense Attorney in June 2007. She decided to expand her practice and now practices in both State and Federal Courts. Sylvia obtained her federal license to practice in the Western District of Texas, in February 2008. In addition to our State Courts, she now practices in our local federal court and surrounding cities, to include Del Rio, Texas. Sylvia has tried cases as a Defense attorney in both the State and Federal Levels. Sylvia is a highly motivated attorney who listens to her clients. Her goal is to find a defense to your case and ultimately get your case dismissed. She listens attentively to your side, while at the same time, considering the police report and ensuring that the police agencies follow our laws and that your constitutional rights are protected.
